Sosiaalifoorumi: Kurdish and Palestinian rights for sale? • Helsinki

Päiväys ja aika
14:30 - 16:00

The event is in English, in hall 23 as part of the Finnish Social Forum.

Finland has agreed to Turkish demands on Kurds, even though Turkey occupies Kurdish areas in Syria, attacks Kurdish areas in Iraq and violates the rights of Kurds in Turkey.

EU and Finland continue cooperation with Israel, with the most extremist government in the country’s history.

Finland has expanded arms trade both with Israel and Turkey.
What is the situation now? What is the role of civil society?

What similarities and differences are there in the Kurdish and Palestinain situation? How can we work together for the rights of both peoples? What can the struggles learn from each other?

These issues will be discussed by Gashaw Bibani, Hakan Cifci (member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Kurdistan National Congress, joining us from Sweden), Nora Sayyad (Palestinian Voices in Finland), and Lotfi El Salah.

Chaired by Syksy Räsänen, chair of ICAHD Finland.

Organized by Rauhanpuolustajat and ICAHD Finland
